WHO ARE WE
Awear, where your clothes are currency.
Fashion is one of the most devastating industries to our planet and still the pressure to keep up is overwhelming.
Research suggests people in developed countries have four to five times more clothing in their wardrobes than in the 1980’s, yet most of these items are never worn.
The model of fast fashion isn’t reliable; we don’t have enough global resources, our planet is choking under the pressures that come with high consumer demand, yet somehow there are new products churned out daily.
There are currently, on average, 14 garments produced per person on the planet ANNUALLY; 60% of which will end up in landfill or incinerators within a year.
AWEAR is an interactive thrift - a circular economy. Once you no longer love something in your physical wardrobe, you can simply upload it to your online wardrobe via the Awear app, and match with other users based on your desired style, size, budget and/or location.
By joining our circular economy, an overwhelmingly positive effect is that the demand for new products will decrease, which will force fast fashion producers to reconsider and reduce their supply of low-cost low-quality garments.
Slowing down the rate of excessive consumption results in less waste, emissions, unfair wages, animal cruelty and so much more.
